Richard Roberts Jr. is one of the Iowa Heartland’s standout Americana voices—an artist who proves it’s never too late to chase the music that’s been living inside you. After retiring in 2019, he picked up a beautifully crafted guitar and stepped boldly into songwriting. When the world slowed down during Covid, Richard didn’t; he used that quiet stretch to hone his craft and shape the songs that would launch his musical journey.

To celebrate his 70th birthday, he released his debut album—an introduction to his warm melodies, vivid storytelling, and unmistakable Midwestern soul. Three albums later, Richard has become a familiar and beloved presence across the Quad Cities music scene, performing original songs that resonate with audiences of all ages.

Carrying the banner “Original Americana from the Iowa Heartland,” Richard writes with heart, humor, and honesty. His lyrics draw from real life, everyday imagery, and universal themes—love, loss, hope, and the winding roads in between.

A new album is already in the works, promising more of the authentic, heartfelt songwriting that has become his signature.

Richard is “Dad” to his amazing 3 grown children. He is also “Papa Rich” to his 7 even more amazing grandchildren.
